QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti launched on Friday the Pink Scooty scheme for femal students in the province and distributed 50 scooties among students of Government Girls Postgraduate Degree College. Speaking at the ceremony, CM Bugti said: “Every talented and position-holding female student in Balochistan will be provided a pink scooty.” The Minister of Education Raheela Hameed Khan Durrani, Minister for Irrigation Mir Sadiq Umrani, Minister for Communication Mir Saleem Ahmed Khosa, Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan, college principal Sadia Farooqi and senior officials of the education department attended the event. The chief minister emphasised that female teachers, students, and working women would also benefit from the scheme, adding that this was the first time in Balochistan’s history that such a scheme had been introduced for female students. “We want to see empowered women in Balochistan. When mothers, sisters, and daughters become educated and contribute to the improvement of society, our community will progress,” Mr Bugti said. He also pointed out that women’s development is becoming a reality in the province, citing the example of five female deputy commissioners in Balochistan, who are outperforming 30 male counterparts. CM Bugti also addressed concerns about organised conspiracies against Pakistan, noting how negative narratives are being spread among youth via social media and artificial intelligence by various countries. He urged the youth to demonstrate wisdom and focus on facts. Comparing the development of different regions, he remarked that there is no uniform progress. The chief minister called on the youth to report anyone demanding bribes and to record such incidents to ensure accountability. At the end of the ceremony, CM Bugti conducted a lucky draw to select 50 students. Forty-eight of them received their scooties on the spot, while the remaining two students will receive their two-wheelers next week.
