SHANGLA: Members of the Shahpur jirga called on the provincial authorities to restore the Shahpur-Kapar Banda road, which the contractor had abandoned after excavating it for widening. The local elders addressed the jirga, which was convened at Government High School in Shahpur, and asked the government to immediately resume the road’s development, which was giving them trouble. Ziaul-haq, Tariq Rauf, Abbas Khan, Maulana Habibullah of Chichlo and others spoke on the occasion. They said that despite their protests, the government had ignored the road’s incompleteness, decay, and inability to be used for travel, which was leading to deadly traffic accidents. The project was sanctioned by the previous government, and it was bid in 2020, but the contractor left it unfinished, said Ziaul-haq, a former union council nazim. According to Tariq Rauf, They had asked the government to fund the contractor and finish it as quickly as possible, which would revolutionise Shangla tourism. All of the jirga members called on the government to start working on the road project again in order to boost tourism and alleviate the suffering of the local population. In the inter-district table tennis tournament final, the Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Butyal Bisham squad defeated the Government High School (GHS) Pishlor in Martung. The Government High School, Pishlor, and the Government Upper Secondary School, Butyal, played a match at the district level after winning their respective school zones. Due to GHSS Butyal’s 12-10 victory over GHS Pishlor in the first round of a single match, 10-6 victory in the second round, and 6-5 victory in the final round, the GHSS Butyal team was crowned the district table tennis champion for 2024.
