KARACHI: An International Islamic Air Company jointly owned and managed by the Islamic nations has been recommended by the Transport and Communications Committee of the IIEC which met in Karachi on Tuesday [Nov 29]. The Committee also recommended a conference of railway experts of the Muslim countries to find out the best method of linking the countries with a railway. Various committees of the IIEC were kept busy yesterday preparing their reports for submission to the second plenary session of the conference scheduled for Thursday Dec 1. The Transport and Communications Committee ... met on Tuesday morning for the first time. Delegates from Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Iran, Egypt, Turkey, Muscat and Oman, Azad Kashmir and Pakistan attended the meeting. Mr Galal Hussain Bey of Egypt was elected Chairman unanimously. Mr M.H. Zuberi, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Communications, who is also an adviser on behalf of the Pakistan Delegation, acted as Secretary. [Meanwhile, as reported by news agencies in Lake Success,] the problem of Jerusalem is expected to be shelved by the current session of the United Nations General Assembly and may be referred back to the Palestine Commission.
