MANSEHRA: Three people were killed and seven injured when a passenger jeep plunged into a ravine in Daki Banda area here on Tuesday. “A man died instantly, while two women succumbed to their injuries at a health facility in Shinkiari,” Mohammad Ashraf Khan, a police sub-inspector, told reporters. The jeep carrying passengers was on way to Jalgali village from Shinkiari when the driver lost control of the vehicle while speeding, he said. “Resultantly, it skidded off the road and plunged into a ravine.” The officials said cops and locals shifted the injured to rural health centre, where doctors pronounced Nasreen Bibi and Ayesha Ilyas dead. Mohammad Fayaz, who was reportedly husband of Nasreen, died on the spot. The doctors referred all the seven injured, including women, to Ayub Medical Hospital, Abbottabad, where condition of two of them was reported as critical. In another incident in Barkund area, an unidentified assailant killed a man and injured his wife, and later alleged died by suicide. Mehreen Bibi, while lodging FIR with Khaki police at a local health facility, stated she and her husband, Azizur Rehman were at their home when an unidentified man scaled the outer wall and fired indiscriminately, leaving them seriously injured. She claimed the assailant then locked himself inside one of the rooms and shot himself dead. The police lodged an FIR, and began further investigation.
