ISLAMABAD: Navy in a thrilling contest beat Wapda to qualify for the semi-final of the 37th National Junior Hockey Championship here at the Naseer Bunda Hockey Stadium on Wednesday. In a close quarter-final Navy edged past Wapda 4-3. For Navy, Mohammad Waseem scored a brace while Besharat Ali and Walid Ashraf added one each. Amir Sohail, Mohammad Hasan and Hanan were among the scorers for Wapda. In another exciting quarter-final, Customs defeated Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 4-3. Bilal Aslam smashed two goals while Mohammad Amad and Samiullah struck one each to help Customs make the last-four stage. Meanwhile, Army blanked Police 3-0 in their last-eight match as Saud Amjad netted two goals and Mohammad Awais got one. Punjab Red outplayed Punjab Blue 5-0 in their quarter-final. Ubaidullah Awan scored two goals while Mubashir, Aziz and Adeel Afzal added one apiece.
