ISLAMABAD: A large number of people on Saturday participated in a rally held in connection with World Human Rights Day. The event was organised by Pakistan National Heart Association (Panah) and Meri Pehchaan Pakistan Welfare Organisation near Khanna Pul. The rally, which began from Aisha Lasani School campus KRL Road, included volunteers, doctors, mediapersons, activists and community leaders. The participants carried placards and banners highlighting key human rights issues such as the right to health, the right to education, freedom of speech and the right to live free from discrimination and violence. Panah was represented by Sanaullah Ghuman, Dr Qaim Awan, former commissioner Abdul Hafeez, Dr Naveed Iqbal, Shahida Naveed, Ayesha Lasani and others. The event was aimed at raising public awareness about the importance of human rights and the urgent need to protect the health and well-being of every individual, particularly in marginalised communities. Mr Ghuman said there was a link between physical and mental well-being and human rights, urging the government to improve healthcare access for all, especially for individuals suffering from cardiovascular diseases.
