SUKKUR: Two brothers and one of their relatives were shot dead in Achar Banglani village in Thull town of Jacobabad district on Tuesday. Residents of the village and police said that the attack was linked with a land dispute between two groups of the Banglani community which had already claimed two lives in recent months. The A-Section police of Thull identified the victims as Qaisar, his brother, Baban, and their relative, Jamal. They said that the assailants opened fire on them and escaped. The victims were rushed to the Thull Taluka Hospital, where doctors pronounced them dead on arrival. Soon after the attack, the armed men from the two rival sides took up positions with their respective localities and continued firing intermittently but there were no reports of more casualties till late in the evening. A strong contingent of police cordoned off the village and were trying to enter the battlefield till last reports came in. Jacobabad SSP Saddam Hussain Khaskheli told the media that the two groups had been attacking each other for some time over a piece of agricultural land situated within the village. He said police teams were conducting raids on suspected hideouts of the culprits, and hoped that they would be arrested soon. In an earlier such attack, an elderly man, Bilawal Banglani, along with another community member, Ghulamo Banglani, were shot dead over the disputed property matter. An FIR of the fresh incident was yet to be registered.
