KARACHI: The Sindh government has decided to register criminal cases against individuals who failed to return government vehicles and used them without authorisation. A meeting of the cabinet’s sub-committee on austerity measures took the decision during its meeting, chaired by Sindh’s Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, at his office on Tuesday. The committee also resolved to auction the abandoned vehicles of the Sindh government. Proposals were made to ensure transparency in the auction process and allocate funds generated toward priority projects, said a press release. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Memon emphasised the need to curb the unnecessary use of government vehicles and reduce the rising expenditure on POL. Steps must be taken to ensure complete transparency in the auction of idle vehicles, he added.
