KOHAT: The National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) personnel, including senior officers, blocked the road near King’s Gate in protest of their colleague’s murder and set a deadline of Monday for the arrest of the killers, here on Friday. The incident had happened on last Thursday afternoon when armed robbers broke into the NBP branch in Dhodha and demanded cash from the 53-year-old manager Syed Kashif Shah. The manager resisted and managed to capture one of the robbers. The branch manager was immediately killed by the other robbers who opened fire on him. During preliminary investigation, the Bilitang police station found that the gunmen had taken Rs 1.15 million with them after committing the robbery. Assistant vice president of the NBP main branch, Hayat Mesud, warned that if the case didn’t advance, they would stop provision of cash to branches around the Kohat division. Meanwhile, the political and social circles slammed the police authorities for failing to protect the people from drug dealers, robbers and other criminals that had been striking fearlessly for months.
