FLUSHING MEADOWS: Chaudhri Mohammad Zafrullah Khan told the United Nations General Assembly today [Sept 24] that India’s refusal to arbitrate differences in Kashmir at this stage of the dispute “merely obstructs a process which must go forward speedily and culminate in the organisation and holding of a fair and impartial plebiscite at a very early date if peace is to be preserved and maintained”. The Pakistan Foreign Minister … made special references to disputes outstanding between India and Pakistan. Referring to the Punjab water dispute, Chaudhri Zafrullah Khan said continuance of the deadlock “threatens to put in serious jeopardy the maintenance of international peace and security”. Speaking of India’s invasion of Hyderabad, the Foreign Minister regretted that the Security Council had not found itself able to take any steps in the matter directed towards the “suppression of what undoubtedly was, and continues to be an act of aggression”. Turning to other matters, Chaudhri Zafrullah Khan called upon the United Nations to … bring about the speedy and effective internationalisation of Jerusalem.
