LAHORE: The University of Engineering and Technology (UET), in collaboration with the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) on Tuesday established the first ‘Pathway to Practice’ desk on the campus to ease the engineers’ registration process. PEC Chairman Engr Waseem Nazir, along with UET Vice Chancellor Prof Shahid Munir, inaugurated the desk that will help strengthen the link between the graduates from two institutions, say a handout. It says the desk will not only ease the registration process for engineers, but also empower new graduates and help raise awareness in the engineering sector. Mr Nazir said the PEC will play an active role in the welfare of engineers, their employment, and their future prospects. “Our goal is to ensure that no engineer remains unemployed,” he added. Prof Munir hoped that the UET will become the largest hub for engineers in Lahore. On this occasion, PEC Punjab chapter Vice Chairman Sohail Aftab Qureshi, Sindh chapter’s Shoaib Mukhtar, executive members Naveed Ramzan, Noor Sheikh, Usman Farooq, Khalid Farooq and Mian Sultan were also present.
