FGIR inspects Lahore-Sahiwal track

LAHORE: Federal Government Inspector of Railways (FGIR) Hammad Hasan Mirza has directed the Pakistan Railways (PR) officers to take all measures for passengers’ safety by ensuring regular maintenance of tracks, railway bridges and culverts, level-crossings, through strict vigilance. The FGIR, a BS-21 officer tasked with reprimanding and penalising the PR officials failing to follow the SOPs related to safety, conducting inquiries into major accidents and inspecting the track etc, said this while inspecting the Lahore-Sahiwal track on Thursday. Accompanied by the senior PR officials, Mr Mirza checked the track, manned and unmanned level-crossings and other infrastructure, under safety parameters, standards and SOPs. He also inspected different stations’ record related to the track inspection, accidents etc. He also inspected the railway bridge near University of Okara. On this occasion, the officials concerned also participated in a passengers and public safety exercise. He reprimanded various officials for showing poor performance and directed them to improve their skills.
