Couple dies as car hits bike in smog

TOBA TEK SINGH: In a smog-related accident near Banagay Chak Stop on Faisalabad-Chak Jhumra Road, a couple died when a car struck their motorcycle. Arshad Ali (50) and his wife Shumaila Bibi (40) were en route to Faisalabad when poor visibility led to the car colliding with their motorcycle. Both died at the scene. In a separate smog-related accident on Samundri Road near Adda Pul Korianwala, an 18-year-old girl died and her teenage sister and cousin were critically injured when a mini truck collided with their motorcycle. According to a Rescue 1122 report, Rimsha Saleem (18), her sister Nadia (17) and cousin Sadia Aslam (18) were headed to Faisalabad when their bike was struck by a truck due to heavy smog. All three were seriously wounded and transported to DHQ Hospital, where Rimsha succumbed to her injuries. Allah Ditta (65), of Asghar Colony in Gojra, was fatally injured after being hit by a train near the railway level crossing. Reports said that he was crossing the tracks when he failed to see the Karachi-bound Shalimar Express train coming from Lahore, leading to his immediate death. Gojra Saddar police registered a case against a man under Section 376 of the Pakistan Penal Code after he allegedly raped his friend’s pregnant wife, who was staying as a guest in his home in Chak 357-JB, Gojra. The FIR states that the alleged rape survivor had travelled to Gojra from Layyah. During the night, the suspect allegedly threatened to harm her if she resisted and assaulted her. She informed her husband the following morning, who then reported the incident to the police. The suspect fled. In another incident, a roadside restaurant owner allegedly raped a child. The complainant of Chak 304-JB, aunt of the boy, claimed in her FIR registered by Gojra Saddar police that the suspect allegedly raped the child on Monday night. Police have arrested the suspect. Gojra Saddar police registered a case against three youths from Chak 241-GB, Garha Bahram, for assaulting Shahryar Afzal, a health department vaccinator. According to the FIR, the incident occurred after Afzal used a mosque loudspeaker to urge parents to vaccinate their children against epidemics. Suspects Mudassar and two accomplices allegedly beat him severely. Police are actively searching for the suspects.
