BAJAUR: The long-awaited road restoration project was officially introduced in the Lowi Mamund tehsil of the Bajaur tribal area on Thursday. In a ceremony conducted in the Barkholozo area, PTI local MPA and Chairman of the District Development Advisory Committee (DDAC) Dr Hamidur Rehman officially opened the improvements to the winding and black topping of the six-kilometer Umary-Laghari road. Scores of people including tribal elders, political and social workers attended the inauguration ceremony. Addressing the ceremony, MPA Dr Hamidur Rehman admitted that the artery, connecting the region with rest of the district via Inayat Kallay town of Khar tehsil, had been in bad shape since 2009, causing great hardships to the inhabitants. Mr Rehman informed the attendees that the project’s completion would usher in a new age of socioeconomic development in the area in addition to guaranteeing the greatest communication facilities for the locals. He also assured the people that he would try his best to get the project completed as soon as possible as most of funds for the scheme had already been released to the relevant department. The local elders, while speaking on the occasion, welcomed the launch of the scheme and urged the MPA and officials concerned to complete the scheme at their earliest.
