SHANGLA: An electric short circuit on Wednesday night burnt to ashes a two-story house in Shangla’s Bar Kalley area of Kuza Alpuri; however the occupants of the property were unhurt. A representative for Rescue 1122 told Dawn that a fire started in the room of house owner Sher Ali, which swiftly spread across the entire house, and then reached neighbouring homes. Following their frantic efforts, the Rescue 1122 personnel extinguished the fire. He claimed that the two-story house’s use of wood caused it to quickly catch fire, turning the house and its contents to ashes; nearby homes, however, were spared from the destruction. SCHOOL INAUGURATED: In partnership with the National Commission for Human Development (NCHD), the district government opened a middle school at the seminary “Darul-Uloom Shangla Hafiz Alpuri,” under which students would pass middle education in 18 months from Allama Iqbal Open University. Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Adnan Khatak inaugurated the school. Fazal Mohammad, Deputy Director NCHD, officials of the education department and others attended the ceremony.
