SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: Seven militants were killed in a clash with security forces in Lower South Waziristan district near Pak-Afghan border in the wee hours on Thursday . Sources said a group of about 30 militants were attempting to enter Pakistan from Afghanistan side. The security forces after spotting them engaged them in a fierce exchange of fire. In the ensuing gun battle, seven terrorists were killed on the spot, while the rest managed to flee back to Afghanistan, they said. Later, during a search operation, security forces recovered dead body of an alleged militant, believed to be from Afghanistan, along with arms, ammunition and a rocket launcher. Security forces officials said that such operations will continue until the elimination of militants in the area. They said the security forces were vigilant and would continue to take decisive action against any militant’s infiltration attempt. It merits a mention here that Pakistan has repeatedly demanded of the Afghan government to take measures for preventing militant attacks across the border. Militants have been using Afghan territory to launch attacks on Pakistan and Afghan government has been urged to take action against them. However, no formal action has been taken so far.
