KOHAT: The electricity supply to Kohat Jail has been suspended for the past two days, worsening the suffering of both the staff and prisoners. Talking to local journalists on Saturday, Jail Superintendent Abdul Bari regretted that the senior officials of the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) were ignoring the problem. He stated that the Pesco’s executive engineer, when contacted, claimed to be unaware of the issue. He stated that the jail staff and inmates were facing severe water shortages for drinking, washing, and bathing due to Pesco’s negligence. The jail superintendent warned that Pesco personnel would be held responsible if a law and order situation arose in the jail due to the suspension of electricity.
