KARACHI: Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon has said that the Sindh government is planning to introduce electric taxis in a move to offer employment opportunities to unemployed youth. Addressing a press conference here on Monday, he also outlined several projects by the PPP government aimed at “providing the best possible facilities to the public” in different areas. The minister, who holds portfolios of information and transport, also referred to several projects initiated by the Sindh government in flood-hit areas, including providing free electricity to people through solarisation, building houses for 2.1 million families, and offering relief in the agriculture sector. “The Sindh government was the first to introduce EV 9 (electric vehicle) buses, followed by the launch of the Pink Bus service,” he said. “The government also plans to introduce EV taxis to provide employment opportunities for unemployed youth. All departments of the Sindh government are actively making efforts in their respective areas to serve the people.” Talking about the current political situation, the minister criticised Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) for ‘creating chaos’ in the country in the name of protest and claimed that the ‘final call’ by party founder Imran Khan had failed miserably, as the people had rejected the narrative built by the former prime minister.
