Balochistan cabinet okays security act

QUETTA: The Balochistan cabinet on Monday approved Balochistan Security of Vulnerable Establishment Act, 2024, under which efforts of various security agencies would be coordinated to restore peace and order in the province. The cabinet condemned Saturday’s on the Quetta Railway Station which left 26 people dead and 62 others injured and pledged to combat such acts of terrorism with full strength and utilising all resources. It offered prayers for victims and expressed sympathies with the bereaved families. Meanwhile, the national flag was flown at half-mast on all government buildings across the province, as the Balochistan government had declared three days of mourning for the tragic incident, which also left 62 people injured. National flag at half-mast to honour Quetta blast victims The cabinet decided to establish new police stations in Rarasham and Kingri areas and a Levies station in Chaman district. The cabinet approved the appointment of a chairman and members for the Balochistan Sales Tax on Services Revenue Appellate Tribunal, as well as funds for the Quetta Development Package. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti emphasised the government’s commitment to eradicate terrorism and restore peace in the province. Referring to the development of the provincial capital, Mr Bugti said that Quetta is the face of the province which required funds for development and beautification initiatives. He said that funds for Quetta Development Package would be immediately released to ensure timely development of the city.
