Awareness drive about right to services launched

CHARSADDA: An awareness campaign on right to services (RTS) rules and notified public services was launched at Government Postgraduate College Charsadda on Thursday. The campaign is meant was to make students and staff aware of their rights and entitlements under RTS rules. More than 3,000 students and 120 staff members attended the event. The campaign is expected to play a significant role in creating awareness among students about the importance of RTS rules in promoting transparency and accountability in public service delivery. Hafiz Ismat Ali, the secretary of Right to Public Services Commission, informed the participants of the event about RTS Act, 2014, and its notified services. The principal of the college and director of higher education department also attended the event, which highlighted the government’s commitment to promote awareness about RTS rules. The participants of the event were told that RTS rules were meant to provide a framework for timely and efficient delivery of services including education, health and social welfare. The rules also create a mechanism to redress grievances of people and ensure accountability among government employees. They said that the awareness campaign was an important step towards promoting transparency and accountability in delivery of public services. By educating students and staff about their rights and entitlements under RTS rules, the campaign would encourage people to demand better services and hold government employees accountable for their actions, they added.
