LAHORE: A sessions court on Saturday took notice of the continuous non-appearance of three doctors of the Jinnah Hospital as prosecution witnesses in a murder case, instructing the provincial secretary for health to ensure their production next week. The case registered with Sabzazar police station was fixed before the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Syed Najaf Haider Kazmi for the testimony of remaining prosecution witnesses including the three doctors. In his order, the judge observed that prosecution witnesses – Dr Zakaullah, Dr Asmat Naz and Dr Raisa Bakht - had been repeatedly summoned through the police and the medical superintendent of the Jinnah Hospital. However, despite making hectic efforts none of the doctors appeared before the court, the judge noted. The judge regretted that the doctors are adamant to not appear before the court and they are deliberately avoiding appearance and even no cooperation has been made by the MS of the hospital as well as the administration officer in letter and spirit regarding the compliance of the order. AD&SJ Kazmi directed the provincial secretary for health department to take notice of the matter and ensure the attendance of the three doctors before the court on Nov 23 without fail.
