DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Three young girls drowned in a pond here on Thursday in the Mubarki area of Koh-Suleman. According to Rescue 1122, the girls had gone to the pond to fetch water when one of them slipped into it. The other two jumped into the pond to save her but all of them drowned. The deceased girls were identified as nine-year-old Maniya, daughter of Lal Din, 10-year-old Shagufta, daughter of Ashiq Hadyani and Rubina, daughter of Rafique. After receiving information about the incident, the local people recovered the bodies of the drowned girls and handed them over the heirs. It is said that all the three drowned girls hailed from the same family. Meanwhile, Dera police on Thursday busted a gang involved in making fake Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs) by showing themselves as government officers and arrested its three members here in the limits of Cantt police station. According to police spokesman, SDPO City Circle Mohammad Adnan along with Cantt police station SHO Sibtain Hussain arrested two accused Shams and Inayat for allegedly being involved in making fake CNICs by showing themselves as government officers. Another accused Waheed Gul alias Sabir was arrested over his alleged involvement in smuggling and extortions by misusing the name of state institutions. The police launched further investigation from the arrested accused. SDPO Mohammad Adnan said that the action was taken after receiving public complaints. He said that further revelations were also expected from the arrested accused.
