Hassan crowned Ashgabat Open U-14 champion

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Mohammad Hassan Usmani made history in Turkmenistan capital on Saturday when he stunned second seed Suleyman Hudayberdiyev to clinch the Under-14 title of the Ashgabat Open. According to the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF), Hassan outplayed Turkmenistan’s Suleyman, who is ranked 75th in the ATF circuit, 6-1, 6-0 in the decider. Competing on a wild card, Hassan produced a stellar performance throughout the event, He began his campaign by upsetting the eighth seed Kerimgeldi Velibegov in the pre-quarterfinal and then ousted fourth seed Aly Geldyev in the quarter-final. The young Pakistani sensation then routed Malaysia’s Jacob Wong 6-2, 6-1 in the semi-final.
