ISLAMABAD: The family politics continue to hurt PTI as the party expelled musician Salman Ahmad on Thursday, accusing him of running a campaign against “the family of Imran Khan”. It is worth noting that over the years, Imran Khan repeatedly criticised the PML-N and PPP, calling them family-run parties, and asserted that his own family members would never play such a role. However, on Thursday, PTI announced the termination of Mr Ahmad’s membership and his expulsion from the party. “After careful consideration, PTI has formally terminated basic membership of Salman Ahmed. His recent social media activity and attacks on Chairman Imran Khan’s family has deeply hurt sentiments of many Pakistanis, this behaviour is completely unacceptable. Therefore, his basic membership is terminated and he is being expelled from the party with immediate effect. The party will not be responsible for any of his future social media posts or propaganda,” said a notification posted on the party’s official X account.
