KHYBER: Landi Kotal police succeeded in normalising religious sentiments between the followers of different schools of thought after a brief verbal war on social media. Sources in Loe Shalman said that some clerics, belonging to the Deobandi school of thought, expressed their opinions on the observance of 12th Rabi ul Awal. In their response to remarks of Deobandi clerics, the followers of Barelvi school of thought insisted that these people had deviated from the actual path of Islam. Local residents brought the contentious matter to the notice of the local police authorities which immediately convened noted clerics from both sides and persuaded them to stop spreading religious differences among the local residents. The police officials made it clear to both the groups that nobody would be allowed to spread hatred against any particular sect nor would they be spared for taking law into their hands. Following the meeting’s conclusion, both sides agreed to delete the objectionable posts from their social accounts and live in peace.
