BAJAUR: The district highway authorities finally started long-awaited construction work on a road which was pending for the last five years due to some land dispute in the remote Barang tehsil on Wednesday. A statement from the deputy commissioner’s office stated that the construction of road would ensure better transportation facilities to the residents of dozens of surrounding villages. It said that the inaugural ceremony of road’s construction was attended by the assistant commissioner Khar subdivision and senior officials of the highway department besides scores of local residents. The villagers expressed joy over resumption of construction work on the much delayed project. The statement mentioned that the most of the landowners, who earlier refused to give their land for the road construction, had finally agreed to do so in larger public interest following their several meetings with the local administration.
